Cantilan is one of the oldest towns in the Province of Surigao del Sur, Philippines.
The people of Cantilan are called Cantilangnons and their dialect is called Cantelangnon (part of Surigaonon dialect). It belongs to an Austronesian language of the Philippine type spoken by about several thousand people. With lexical similarity of 82% with Dibabawon Manobo, 81% with Agusan Manobo, 69% with Butuanon.
