The people of Cantilan are called Cantilangnons and their dialect is called Cantelangnon (part of Surigaonon dialect). It belongs to an Austronesian language of the Philippine type spoken by about several thousand people. With lexical similarity of 82% with Dibabawon Manobo, 81% with Agusan Manobo, 69% with Butuanon.

Isa siguro sa mga rason nawaya ak anay, an pag-apil ko sa grupo na tagsugdan ni Sir Dodo Buniel. Nabisi praktis hawid nan banduria. Kuman tuyo pa intawon ka kanta ak hibayan, irecord ko ra, butang dinhi.

The images of Cantilan remind me of the time I stayed there. I miss the place and the people who are dear to me, but I have no idea if I’ll be able to visit again. Who knows, maybe someday..
